HELPING A COLLEGE STAND OUT IN ITS CLASS.

As colleges go, Bismarck State College gets excellent grades for its affordability, diverse programs, and quality of education. It’s a comprehensive community college offering students both two-year and four-year plans. Students can complete the first two years of education toward a bachelor’s degree before transferring to a four-year college or university.

By 2018, BSC faced several challenges, including staff reductions, tuition shortfalls, and declining high school graduation rates. Prospects typically viewed technical colleges like BSC as a plan B. It needed to stand out as a worthy Plan A option. We rebranded BSC as the better, more affordable choice where students develop highly marketable, in-demand skills.

To stand out from the crowd, we needed to help people better understand what Bismarck State College is all about and how it offers an education to fit a person’s interests and abilities. We developed an uplifting TV campaign that appealed to the hearts of prospective students by calling out the natural talents everyone has, encouraging them to look inside themselves to see the transformation toward a career and life that is true to them. Our theme: Discover The Next Version Of You. The integrated campaign also included radio, social, and outdoor banners that explained to prospects and their parents why BSC is the best step toward the next step forward in life.
