PLANTING SEEDS OF AWARENESS ABOUT SPECIALTY CROPS.

It’s common knowledge that North Dakota is an agricultural state. What isn’t as well known is that a surprising variety of specialty crops grow there, from fruits and vegetables to herbs and spices. The state’s Department of Agriculture came to us with a multipronged plan to promote its specialty crops, the producers who grow them, and the farmers markets that sell them. The goal: support the state’s agriculture economy to help boost North Dakotans’ overall prosperity and well-being.

Creating awareness of North Dakota’s specialty crops was crucial for the project’s success. The effort also had to show people how to prepare the crops using easy-to-follow recipes that sparked the imagination and activated the taste buds. We partnered with the Department’s marketing team to create a series of broadcast-quality, sharable webisode videos for digital, social, and streaming.

LAUNCHING THE FRESH FROM NORTH DAKOTA WEBISODE SERIES.

Cover Image

The agency started by signing on talented and engaging North Dakota chefs. The videos featured the chefs discussing their recipes using different specialty crops. We brand-named our new video recipe series Fresh From North Dakota and created four lively, appetizing episodes with original content about charcuterie, outdoor entertaining, pickling, and hearty soups. The webisodes work together as a branded series designed to be posted and shared. We also created a promotional tool kit of recipe cards and posters for local food producers to inspire and encourage farmers market customers to buy locally grown specialty crops. After the initial launch, the agency was asked to serve up fresh episodes starring a new menu of local chefs.
